Ulrik Beste joins the Robustus team as head of product development
Ulrik Beste joins us from Erasteel Kloster AB where he worked on the development of powder metallurgy high speed steel (PM HSS) and other high alloy materials. Ulrik was among other roles the project leader for the atomization process, in Erasteels new factory Durin, see http://www.erasteel.com/content/dvalin-atomizer. Durin is the world's largest metal powder gas atomisation unit.
Before Erasteel Ulrik worked at Atlas Copco Secoroc AB 2004-2007 with cemented carbide development and system tribology.
Ulrik holds an MSc in Engineering Physics with Materials Science (Uppsala University) and a PhD in Materials Science focusing on Tribology. Ulrik' thesis work was sponsored by Sandvik AB and was focused on the wear of cemented carbide rock drills, see the dissertation thesis from 2004 here: http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:uu:diva-4223.
Ulrik has published some thirty scientific papers, where about 2/3 is about abrasion of rock drills and 1/3 of metal powder manufacturing and characterization thereof. Examples include, in addition to the dissertation thesis, the concluding article on rock drill wear as received great attention at the conference Science of Hard Materials in Puerto Rico 2004 http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.ijrmhm.2005.05.
Ulrik was recognized as a research scientist in 2002, when he received the prestigiuous Sandvik Coromant Material Award.
